A more productive day, without automating your judgment

A practical morning-to-afternoon routine you can try with the tools you already have.

Before you open another tab

Choose one output that would make today useful. Write down the actual constraints: time, meetings, deadlines, and energy. Use an assistant to organize that information, but make the priority decision yourself.

Morning: draft a realistic plan

Give the assistant the task list and fixed commitments. Ask which work does not fit. Keep a buffer and a stopping point. A schedule packed to the minute is not evidence that you will complete it.

Before a meeting: prepare three questions

Use authorized background notes to draft a short agenda. Ask which decision the meeting needs to produce. Do not turn a summary into a claim that you have checked every source; open the important records yourself.

After a meeting: capture the next action

Extract decisions, owners, dates, and uncertainties while the discussion is fresh. Keep an exact source excerpt beside each action. This makes the review easier and reduces the chance that a suggestion becomes an invented commitment.

During focused work: delegate a first version

Ask for a brief, outline, comparison, or draft using material you are allowed to provide. Define the acceptance checks up front. Keep a visible list of unknowns so polished language cannot hide a missing fact.

At the end: use evidence, not guilt

Compare the planned work with what happened. Which task took longer? Which interruption mattered? Use those observations to improve tomorrow’s plan. Measure the whole process, including time spent reviewing AI output, rather than celebrating the speed of the first draft.

Make it practical.

Choose a task you already do. Work through one original recipe and check the result.
