THE USEFUL RESULT
A confirmed scheduled reflection prompt—not a claim that your calendar has been analyzed.
Before you start
- A supported Scheduled feature in your account
- Your time zone and preferred cadence
- A self-contained instruction
Here’s the workflow
Choose a task that can stand alone
Begin with a short reflection prompt that needs no live account data. For example, ask for the same three planning questions on workdays.
State the timing precisely
Give the time zone and cadence you intend. Availability and schedule limits differ by account, so inspect the actual task confirmation rather than assuming the request succeeded.
Keep context inside the task
Write a complete instruction. OpenAI’s current documentation says scheduled tasks created in a project cannot access uploaded or stored project files. Do not build this exercise around those files.
Verify notifications
Check that the scheduled task exists, its timing is right, and notifications are allowed. Test the output and confirm it is a prompt for your input, not fabricated knowledge of your day.
Review or retire it
Pause or delete the task if it becomes noise. A useful reminder should support a habit you chose, not become another inbox to manage.
MAKE THIS PROMPT YOURS
On [cadence] in [time zone], at a time supported by my plan, prompt me to answer: What matters most today? What can wait? What is the smallest next step? Keep the message short. Do not claim to have read my calendar, inbox, or project files. Confirm the actual schedule and notification method before considering this set up.
Replace the bracketed context with approved information. Prompt wording is not a security boundary.Check before you rely on it
- A task confirmation exists and shows the correct time zone.
- The prompt does not assume inaccessible files.
- You know how to pause or delete the task.
When it does not work
Set the same recurring reminder in your existing calendar and use AI manually for planning.
